In this leadership position, you will be responsible for managing a team of Cloud Operations Engineers dedicated to the development of internal tools and the automation of operational processes. Your role will encompass system oversight, performance diagnostics, and server management, all while promoting a high standard of quality and nurturing a collaborative team atmosphere.

- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Cloud Operations Engineering team, ensuring a culture of inclusivity and technical excellence.
- Oversee project timelines and deliverables, guiding team members to achieve high-quality results.
- Support team members in their daily responsibilities, including incident management and project execution.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Technical Services, and R&D teams to identify and address challenges, enhancing the overall user experience.
- Partner with fellow leads in Cloud Operations and Technical Services to maintain uptime commitments for MongoDB Atlas clients.
- Engage in the design, deployment, and upkeep of systems that aim to minimize incident resolution times.
- Identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency in daily operations.
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation to respond to urgent customer incidents and ensure timely resolutions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing small to mid-sized engineering teams in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a proven track record of resolving complex technical issues in production environments.
- Experience overseeing and monitoring software development initiatives.
- Ability to exhibit patience, empathy, and a sincere desire to support and assist team members.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for quick thinking and maintaining composure under pressure while addressing challenges.
- Prior experience in an on-call capacity as a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations engineer.
- Proficient in Linux system administration and networking principles.
- Familiarity with database operations and distributed systems architecture.
- Knowledge of various web technologies and internet protocols.
- Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Background in monitoring, performance analysis, and reporting methodologies.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages to tackle immediate and long-term system issues.
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Competence in at least two of the following programming languages: Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
- A strong desire to learn and develop new skills in a fast-evolving field.
- Drive successful outcomes through collaborative team efforts rather than relying solely on individual contributions.
- Foster team growth and performance while actively mentoring and working alongside team members.
- Provide clarity and direction in ambiguous situations, ensuring alignment among stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the regional Cloud Operations Engineering Manager to uphold operational standards and maintain technical quality while effectively managing workloads.
