About the role
We are looking for a Senior Staff Enterprise Architect specializing in Data to guide the strategy and modernization of our enterprise data framework. This position combines elements of data architecture, engineering, and AI integration to create solutions that connect our Data Lake and Data Warehouse across various cloud environments. Over the next 12 to 18 months, you will enable self-service data access and implement natural language query features for business users.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy and roadmap that standardizes business metrics and ensures governance for natural language queries.
- Create a Master Data strategy for key domains, establishing requirements for golden records and data stewardship models.
- Define a cross-cloud data integration approach, balancing performance and cost while documenting implementation trade-offs.
- Create detailed 12-24 month roadmaps for data architecture across multiple business functions, identifying gaps and recommending technology investments.
- Assess AI-driven data observability tools for monitoring data quality and predicting pipeline failures, leading vendor evaluations and integration efforts.
- Design data ingestion architectures that significantly reduce processing times for both batch and real-time data.
- Establish criteria for build vs. buy decisions regarding Data Platform and ETL tools, overseeing proof-of-concept executions.
- Architect solutions for high-priority projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and operational documentation requirements.
- Foster collaboration with Product Management to align on feasibility and scaling plans for data platforms.
- Lead workshops for solution scoping, providing estimates and identifying dependencies while addressing complex design issues.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with architectural standards, conducting audits to identify technical debt.
- Serve as an early adopter of MongoDB Atlas and Voyage AI, providing feedback to influence product development.
- Define data lineage strategies and establish targets for coverage, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with InfoSec to enhance data governance and security monitoring processes.
- Establish architectural principles and maintain documentation for data flows and integration patterns.
- Build a community of practice around architecture, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Mentor data engineers and architects, focusing on career development and technical skills.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Enterprise Architecture roles.
- Over 10 years of experience in areas such as data architecture, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in bridging Data Lakes and Warehouses across different cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-on experience with Master Data and data lineage tools, having designed models for at least two domains.
- Familiarity with AI/ML tools for data quality monitoring and automated classification.
- Demonstrated success in reducing data latency through various integration patterns.
- Proficient in SQL and Python, with experience in modern data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Experience leading large-scale implementations, including CRM and Enterprise Data Platforms.
- Background in vendor management and contract negotiations.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a Master's degree is preferred.
