About the role
The Supplier Auditor at Mom's Meals applies specialized knowledge, technical skills, and expertise to effectively conduct vendor food safety audits to ensure the quality and food safety of Mom's Meals. This role owns the full lifecycle of vendor assessment, driving proactive identification of risks and ensuring timely closure of all documented findings. The hire will act as an independent evaluator, translating food safety standards into actionable insights for suppliers. This position works closely with Purchasing personnel to manage vendors within the supply chain and influence corrective actions. The Supplier Auditor owns the audit program and is directly responsible to the VP of Technical Services for program performance and continuous improvement. This role ensures that all vendor facilities meet or exceed established food safety and quality expectations. The position requires strong analytical thinking to interpret audit results and provide clear, objective reporting. The hire will contribute to the strategic oversight of vendor compliance and support the integrity of the food supply chain.

What you'll do
Perform comprehensive onsite vendor assessments to evaluate food safety and quality management systems.
Document detailed observations during audits using structured methods to ensure clarity and accuracy of findings.
Identify potential risks within vendor processes and supply chain operations that could impact food safety or product quality.
Verify that vendors comply with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal standards.
Analyze audit data to determine root causes of nonconformances and collaborate with vendors on corrective actions.
Track the closure of documented findings to ensure timely resolution and sustained improvements.
Support the development and refinement of audit programs, procedures, and best practices for vendor assessments.
Coordinate with Purchasing personnel to align audit schedules, share insights, and address supply chain risks.
Provide technical guidance to vendors to help them achieve compliance and enhance their food safety performance.
Prepare clear, objective reports that communicate audit results, risk levels, and recommended actions to leadership.
Contribute to cross-functional projects that improve supplier quality, traceability, and operational resilience.
Serve as a subject matter expert on food safety and quality matters related to the vendor base.
Requirements
U.S. citizen or national, or authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, now or in the future.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance if required for the role.
Eligible to work in the United States without current or future work authorization sponsorship, including F1-OPT, F1-CPT, H-1B, TN, L-1, J-1, and similar statuses.

Capable of working full-time in an at-home remote role with required company travel to Ankeny, IA.

Nice to have
Experience in food safety auditing, quality assurance, or related technical roles within the food industry.
Knowledge of food safety standards such as SQF, BRC, FSMA, or HACCP.
Familiarity with supply chain management and vendor qualification processes.
Experience working with regulated food manufacturing environments.
Strong proficiency in food safety regulations and compliance requirements.
Background in risk assessment and problem-solving within supplier environments.
Practical notes
Remote hires are required to travel to our headquarters in Ankeny, IA (company paid) on their first day for orientation.
This role requires U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Work is primarily remote, with full-time availability expected during standard business hours.
Occasional travel may be required to vendor sites or company facilities as part of audit activities.
Compliance with all security, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements is mandatory.
This position reports directly to the VP of Technical Services and operates as part of the food safety and quality organization.
