About the role
The Virtual Clinical Educator serves as the single point of contact for patients navigating complex therapies from initiation through long-term adherence. This role leverages deep clinical expertise and empathetic communication to build trust-based relationships with patients and providers. The hire will own the end-to-end patient journey, identifying barriers and activating personalized support strategies that drive therapy success. They will utilize motivational interviewing and clinical intuition to deliver tailored education and timely interventions. The position requires collaboration with life science partners, healthcare professionals, and support networks to ensure seamless program execution. Success in this role is defined by patient empowerment, adherence, and persistence outcomes. The VCE will act as a trusted advocate, translating medical information into actionable steps for patients and caregivers.

What you'll do
- Serve as the single point of contact in the treatment process from start to finish for assigned patients.
- Demonstrate empathy and effectively engage patients, creating a personalized relationship-based connection built on trust and rapport.
- Provide disease education, product overview, device training, and side effect management to patients and caregivers.
- Proactively reach out to patients to provide high-touch support that connects the dots across their entire program journey.
- Create patient empowerment through a series of "wow" engagements delivered at critical moments along the patient journey.
- Utilize motivational interviewing tools to anticipate and address patient barriers while personalizing messaging within established time parameters.
- Communicate effectively to influence patient initiation and support processes, encouraging confidence and accountability to help patients start and stay on therapy.
- Ensure the success of the program through collaborative partnerships with patients, brand teams, and operations partners.
- Use clinical intuition and expertise to offer patients appropriate responses to their questions and accurately assess patients using approved messaging guidelines.
- Ensure patients are aware of all available services and assist in connecting them to the most relevant resources.
- Connect patients to local support groups, advocacy groups, and other external resources that can enhance their care experience.
- Provide health coaching throughout the patient journey to support adherence and compliance to medication regimens.
- Provide assistance and guidance to patients navigating access and affordability journeys.
- Provide HCP feedback to keep healthcare professionals informed about patient participation in the support program.
- Educate the care team and proactively reach out after the clinical decision has been made to start a new patient on regimen.
- Triage and follow up with specialty pharmacies to support patients in receiving product and understanding its status.
- Provide continuous updates, guidance, and triaging support to ensure therapy persistence and address emerging needs.
- Document all patient interactions and outcomes in accordance with company protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust engagement strategies based on observed barriers and motivational factors.
- Act as a clinical resource for care teams seeking information on patient adherence challenges.
- Support the collection of insights that inform program improvements and patient experience enhancements.
- Promote adherence through personalized reminders, milestone recognition, and motivational content.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine patient journeys and eliminate barriers to engagement.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct patient care experience in a clinical or home health setting.
- Prior experience in a specialty pharmacy, infusion center, or complex therapy environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience delivering patient education and support in a virtual or remote capacity.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and patient management platforms.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards in healthcare.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate patient needs across time zones.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a private workspace suitable for confidential patient conversations.

Practical notes
This role requires availability during the hours of 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM EST, Monday through Friday. Consistent adherence to the scheduled shifts is essential for continuity of patient support and team collaboration. This is a remote position with no required travel. Candidates must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based and comply with all relevant employment laws. This role may involve exposure to confidential health information and requires strict compliance with privacy regulations.
