What you'll do
Perform transactional data entry into system applications with a high degree of accuracy, recording financial transactions such as purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
Prepare tax filings, quarterly tax provisions, and assist in responding to tax notices and inquiries while ensuring all required tax reporting is completed in a timely manner.
Assist in the preparation of audits by organizing documentation and providing necessary information to external and internal reviewers.
Identify and research errors that caused incorrect tax filings, assessing invoices for taxation and analyzing and correcting discrepancies after proper approval.
Handle administrative needs of the department, including scheduling meetings, maintaining filing systems, processing mail, assisting with correspondence, making copies, and managing standard department materials and their distribution.
Maintain strict adherence to internal controls, tax calendar deadlines, and company policy and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Utilize advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to manage spreadsheets, create reports, and communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.
Monitor changes in tax regulations and apply updates relevant to indirect tax responsibilities to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy.
Support cross-functional collaboration by working closely with finance, operations, and legal teams to resolve complex tax-related issues.
Demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks and take initiative to improve processes, identify risks, and propose solutions that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of tax operations.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of department procedures by documenting workflows and standard practices for knowledge retention and training purposes.
Serve as a reliable point of contact for internal inquiries related to tax documentation and filing status, ensuring clear and professional communication.
Ensure all documentation is organized, traceable, and stored in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Provide timely follow-up on outstanding items, escalations, and inquiries to maintain the integrity of the tax cycle and support strategic business objectives.
Requirements
You must hold an Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
You are required to have 2-3 years of related experience in a tax or finance role that demonstrates your ability to handle complex responsibilities.
You must have specific Indirect Tax Experience, as this role directly supports those functions.
You must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced use of spreadsheets and data management tools.
You are required to possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles you may operate in the course of your duties.
You must maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team during the evaluation process.
You must be capable of performing duties in a manner that adheres to strict confidentiality standards when handling sensitive financial information.
You must demonstrate the ability to produce highly accurate work while managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
You must be able to collaborate effectively with team members across various departments and locations.
You must comply with all company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements relevant to tax operations.
You must have the legal right to work in the United States to perform this job.
