Position Overview
Metro Vein Centers is actively seeking an experienced Senior Medical Coder to join its growing Revenue Cycle team. This role requires a certified professional who will function as a clinical coding expert and a trusted resource. The Senior Medical Coder will perform duties that extend beyond accurate code assignment to include mentoring, quality assurance, and complex scenario guidance. The position supports claims resolution and collaborates with Coding Leadership to uphold coding accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence throughout the organization. The role is remote, with occasional travel to the West Bloomfield, Michigan headquarters for training, meetings, or departmental initiatives.
Daily Responsibilities
A Senior Medical Coder will review intricate medical records to assign precise diagnosis and procedure codes. This includes assigning values for ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS based on thorough record analysis. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert for the Revenue Cycle team, offering guidance on complex coding situations and regulatory requirements.
Additional daily tasks include auditing coding quality and documentation accuracy to ensure standards are met. The coder will coach and mentor fellow coders on best practices and coding guidelines. Collaboration with healthcare providers aims to improve documentation quality and clarity. Claim corrections and coding-related denial resolution will be supported to ensure timely submissions. Code sets will be updated annually and during off-cycles to reflect changes in CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS. Close partnership with Coding Leadership will focus on improving workflows and maintaining compliance.
