What you'll do
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes for both Canadian and U.S. operations.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights to management for improved financial performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts, aligning financial goals with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations in both Canada and the U.S., preparing necessary documentation and filings in a timely manner.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.
- Prepare and coordinate audits, liaising with external auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital, providing recommendations for optimizing financial resources.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on both Canadian and U.S. accounting practices.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standards, with a proven track record in financial reporting and analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite or similar platforms is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
