Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to management.
- Lead safety training sessions for employees, ensuring that all staff are knowledgeable about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with various departments to promote safety initiatives and integrate safety practices into daily operations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support to employees and management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and changes in safety regulations, adapting company policies as necessary to maintain compliance.
- Facilitate safety committee meetings, encouraging employee participation and feedback on safety issues and initiatives.
- Develop and manage the safety budget, allocating resources effectively to support safety programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate emergency response drills and ensure that all employees are familiar with evacuation procedures and emergency contacts.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices, encouraging employees to take an active role in promoting workplace safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably within the manufacturing or industrial sector.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage employees at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred but not required.
Nice to have
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies as they relate to safety improvements.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a safety department.
- Knowledge of behavioral-based safety programs and their implementation.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.

- Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools to track safety performance metrics.
- Familiarity with incident management software and safety training platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong presentation skills, capable of conveying safety information clearly and effectively.
