What you'll do

Collaborate with a team of engineers to design, develop, and implement software solutions that address real-world challenges.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of coding standards and practices within the team.
Assist in the testing and debugging of applications to ensure high-quality deliverables that meet project specifications.
Engage in regular meetings with project stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
Document software development processes, including design specifications, user manuals, and technical documentation.
Utilize version control systems to manage code changes and collaborate effectively with team members.
Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends to inform project decisions and enhance product offerings.
Support the integration of new features and functionalities into existing applications, ensuring seamless user experiences.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by users or identified during testing phases.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes and workflows by sharing insights and suggestions.
Participate in training sessions and workshops to further develop your technical skills and knowledge.

Requirements

Currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in software development or programming, either through academic projects or internships.
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or C++.
Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.

Nice to have

Experience with web development frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure.
Previous internship experience in a software development role or related field.
Participation in coding competitions or hackathons that demonstrate your coding abilities and creativity.
