About the role
You will design and execute end to end data migration workflows that empower agencies to transition to Mark43 platforms with confidence. You will partner closely with public safety customers to interpret legacy data structures and translate them into robust new schemas. You will own the full lifecycle of migration projects from discovery and profiling through delivery and validation. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and deployment teams to refine migration tooling and processes iteratively. You will provide clear, structured guidance to external contractors and internal stakeholders throughout each engagement. You will investigate edge cases in uniquely formatted source databases to ensure data integrity and completeness. You will balance strict project timelines with uncompromising quality standards in every deliverable.

What you'll do
- Design and implement SQL based ETL processes to migrate decades of public safety data from legacy systems into the Mark43 platform.
- Collaborate with data migration contractors, reviewing technical deliverables and providing actionable guidance to help them succeed.
- Conduct detailed meetings with records management teams to understand legacy data structures and map them effectively to Mark43 schemas.
- Perform deep dives into source database formats to uncover edge cases and ensure data fidelity throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Work cross functionally with deployment, engineering, and product teams to iterate on and improve migration tooling and workflows.
- Balance demanding project timelines with strict quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical details into clear narratives for non technical audiences during stakeholder communications.
- Monitor migration execution, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Document migration logic, transformations, and validations to support long term maintainability and knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to the evolution of best practices for data migration across the organization.
- Support the evaluation and integration of new data sources as they enter the migration pipeline.
- Assist in developing test plans and validation scripts to verify completeness and accuracy of migrated datasets.
- Participate in post migration reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
- Represent the data migration practice in discussions with partners to align on scope, risks, and deliverables.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired and unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.
- Demonstrate 2 plus years of experience in data migration, ETL development, or SQL development roles.
- Show a comprehensive understanding of data migration processes and own projects from discovery through delivery.
- Possess strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining high quality output.
- Have deep understanding of SQL and relational database design principles.
- Demonstrate proven experience writing complex SQL scripts for extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Ability to analyze and translate legacy data models into new schemas that meet customer needs.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
- Display commitment to quality by taking pride in work and focusing on accuracy in all deliverables.
- Interest in public safety data and the impact of high quality migrations on customer success.
- Prior work with public safety or government systems is a bonus but not required.
- Willingness to work closely with contractors and provide clear guidance on technical expectations.
- Comfort with exploring and documenting intricate source data structures and edge cases.
