In this Solutions Architect, Enterprise role, you will own the end-to-end technical narrative for strategic customers in China and across the region. You will act as the primary technical thought partner, shaping the customer vision and translating complex business goals into scalable, production-ready location solutions. You will leverage deep expertise in mapping, mobility, and emerging AI capabilities to de-risk implementation and accelerate adoption. This role demands intellectual curiosity, rigorous analysis, and the ability to synthesize diverse inputs into coherent strategies. Ultimately, you will be accountable for driving customer confidence, solution integrity, and long-term platform value.

What you'll do
Architect and lead technical discovery sessions to uncover strategic customer objectives, success criteria, and hidden requirements for enterprise location initiatives.
Translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical narratives, designing scalable architectures that leverage Mapbox SDKs, APIs, and platform services for high-impact use cases.
Own the creation of compelling technical proposals, responses to RFIs and RFQs, and detailed solution documentation that differentiates Mapbox in competitive enterprise deals.
Deliver targeted technical workshops, executive-level briefings, and interactive proofs-of-concept to validate assumptions and accelerate buyer engagement in a fast-paced digital environment.
Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to build business cases, define opportunity roadmaps, and identify expansion pathways within existing customer portfolios.
Champion customer needs internally, synthesizing feedback to influence product direction, feature prioritization, and platform roadmap decisions at scale.
Lead the design of location-aware experiences that integrate back-end APIs with front-end SDKs, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.
Monitor the evolving landscape of mapping, mobility, and AI technologies, curating and sharing relevant benchmarks, patterns, and best practices to elevate internal and external expertise.
Guide complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles by providing structured technical guidance, managing context-switching, and supporting high volumes of customer opportunities without compromising quality.
Accelerate time-to-value for customers by removing architectural barriers, promoting platform adoption, and enabling strategic expansion into new workflows and sectors.
Advocate for data-driven decision making, establishing success metrics and feedback loops that demonstrate clear business outcomes and platform ROI.
Cultivate a learning mindset, actively participating in internal communities of practice to elevate solution design standards across the organization.
Demonstrate adaptability by operating effectively in ambiguous, matrixed environments while maintaining a high degree of ownership and delivery focus.
Serve as a platform evangelist, building credibility with developer communities and technical leaders through authentic engagement and thought leadership.
Drive the adoption of scalable patterns for location data, navigation workflows, and integration challenges specific to enterprise and regulated environments.
Requirements
You must possess a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in solutions architecture, customer-facing engineering, or technical consulting roles with a strong track record in enterprise environments.
You must demonstrate native-level fluency in both Mandarin and English, with exemplary written and verbal communication skills in both languages to engage diverse stakeholders.
You must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
You must have a deep understanding of web and mobile technologies, including JavaScript, Android, and iOS ecosystems, and how they interact with location platforms.
You must have hands-on experience building applications that integrate complex back-end APIs with front-end SDKs while maintaining performance and reliability standards.
You must have a solid foundation in GIS, location intelligence, geospatial data models, and core mapping concepts to evaluate solution fit.
You must be proficient with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including networking, security, and deployment patterns relevant to location services.
You must have experience applying AI technologies, including machine learning and large language models, to location-based problems and user workflows.
You must have a proven ability to lead technical responses for RFI and RFQ processes, authoring comprehensive, persuasive, and technically accurate proposals.
You must exhibit strong business acumen, comfort working autonomously, and the ability to manage distributed teams and stakeholders across time zones.
You must excel at translating complex, often ambiguous requirements into scalable, robust architectures that align with explicit customer objectives and constraints.
You must possess excellent communication skills for both technical and executive audiences, with a proven capacity to influence product, engineering, and developer stakeholders.
You must be capable of supporting high volumes of customer opportunities, managing context-switching, and maintaining rigorous prioritization across multiple initiatives.
You must have experience working across a variety of industries such as logistics, telecommunications, utilities, or location-based analytics.
You must be willing to travel up to 25 percent of the time for customer meetings, workshops, and industry events, primarily within the China region.
Nice to have
Prior experience with location-based startups or platform ecosystems is a plus.
Hands-on contributions to open-source mapping or geospatial projects is a plus.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations for location data in China is a plus.
Experience with edge computing or offline synchronization scenarios is a plus.
Familiarity with automotive or telematics use cases is a plus.
Practical notes
This role requires willingness to travel up to 25 percent within China for customer engagements.
Successful candidates must be eligible to work in China under local employment regulations.
