The Senior Analyst, Strategic Finance serves as a critical strategic partner within Madison Energy Infrastructure, owning the analytical depth required to shape capital formation and growth strategy. This role drives key initiatives that directly influence the firm's ability to execute on capital markets transactions, platform and operating portfolio M&A, and rigorous project underwriting support. The Senior Analyst is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, interfacing seamlessly across internal teams and with a diverse array of external stakeholders to advance shared objectives. What you'll do
- Support MEI's capital raises by owning the preparation of investor materials, data room management, and coordination of in-depth diligence responses.
- Manage modeling and diligence workstreams across platform and operating portfolio M&A opportunities, guiding analysis from initial screening through to transaction close.
- Review project-level financial models and refine underwriting criteria to enable robust capital allocation decisions and risk assessment.
- Prepare executive-grade presentations and detailed analysis tailored for senior leadership, the board, and external stakeholders with clarity and precision.
- Drive the development and maintenance of financial models, ensuring assumptions are transparent, scalable, and aligned with strategic objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs to consolidate project timelines, capital draw schedules, and performance metrics into cohesive narratives.
- Partner with legal, tax, and technical teams to validate data and incorporate regulatory and compliance considerations into financial analyses.
- Leverage data and BI tools to generate insights that inform strategic recommendations and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Contribute to the design and enhancement of finance processes, identifying automation opportunities and implementing process improvements.
- Support other strategic finance initiatives on an as-needed basis, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness in a dynamic environment.
- Own key components of transaction documentation packages, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with investor expectations.
- Collaborate with portfolio teams to assess operational and financial performance, identifying value creation levers and tracking progress.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and align stakeholders on key decisions.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of market conditions, financing structures, and competitor activity to support informed strategic choices.
- Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external analysts, ensuring timely and thorough responses to information requests.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field that provides a strong quantitative foundation.
- Bring 2-5+ years of professional experience in project finance, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or a closely related finance discipline.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data manipulation.
- Show mastery of PowerPoint and data/business intelligence tools such as Power BI to communicate insights effectively.
- Operate as a detail-oriented and self-sufficient professional who thrives when managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Exhibit comfort working through ambiguity while maintaining rigorous analytical standards in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise, actionable recommendations.
