About the role

M-KOPA is on the lookout for its inaugural Lead Engineer specializing in AI Agents, tasked with forming and developing a new team dedicated to the creation and implementation of AI automations across the organization. This pivotal role will involve guiding a team of engineers in the development of production-ready AI agents that significantly boost the productivity of over 2,300 employees worldwide. What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a team of three AI Ops Engineers, ensuring successful project execution and fostering their professional growth.
• Create and enhance a prioritization framework to effectively manage a variety of requests for AI-driven solutions.
• Design and implement multi-agent systems and automation processes that streamline both internal operations and customer interactions.
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to seamlessly integrate internal knowledge into AI agents, enhancing their functionality.
• Oversee the health and scalability of the AI tooling stack, catering to the needs of over 2,500 employees.
• Investigate and assess new AI tools and technologies to pinpoint practical applications that can benefit the organization.
• Play a key role in AI training programs for the wider organization, including software engineering teams, to enhance their understanding and utilization of AI technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that AI solutions align with business objectives and user needs.
• Monitor industry trends and advancements in AI to keep the organization at the forefront of technology.
• Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress and team performance.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team, encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in developing production-grade automations and AI agents, with a strong foundation in scripting or AI-assisted development.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in creating multi-agent systems using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, MCP, or Google ADK.
• Familiarity with RAG pipelines for knowledge retrieval and workflow automation, showcasing a practical understanding of these technologies.
• Background in enterprise tooling, including rapid prototyping (Vercel/Railway), identity automation (Entra), or internal platform development.
• Leadership experience, with a track record of managing or mentoring engineering teams and taking ownership of team deliverables.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about AI applications in a business context.

• Experience with cloud-based AI services and platforms, enhancing scalability and performance.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices in AI deployment.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools to streamline team workflows.
• Previous experience in a startup environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and challenges.
