What you'll do

• Lead the development and implementation of safety management systems for spaceflight operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess risks associated with space missions and develop mitigation strategies to enhance mission assurance.
• Conduct safety reviews and audits of mission plans, hardware, and operational procedures to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns, providing expert guidance and support to project teams.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to safety assessments, risk management, and mission assurance activities.
• Facilitate safety training and awareness programs for team members, promoting a culture of safety and accountability within the organization.
• Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, generating reports to inform leadership and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Engage with external regulatory bodies and industry organizations to stay abreast of evolving safety standards and best practices in spaceflight operations.
• Participate in incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Support the integration of new technologies and methodologies into safety processes, enhancing the effectiveness of mission assurance efforts.
• Represent Lunaroutpost at industry conferences and workshops, sharing insights and contributing to discussions on safety and mission assurance in space exploration.
• Foster relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and partners, to promote collaborative safety initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, safety management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace safety, mission assurance, or a related discipline, preferably within the space industry.
• In-depth knowledge of safety management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory requirements applicable to spaceflight operations.
• Proven experience in conducting safety audits, reviews, and assessments, with a track record of identifying and mitigating risks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively conveying safety concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, demonstrating leadership and initiative.
• Proficiency in safety analysis tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with project management principles and practices is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site assessments, audits, and industry events.

• Experience with space mission planning and execution, particularly in lunar or planetary exploration contexts.
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices as they relate to safety and mission assurance.
