The Sr. Field Quality Engineer - Closures reports as shown in the source and is based in Casa Grande, AZ. This is a quality-focused position responsible for the end-to-end validation and field performance of closure systems on Lucid vehicles operating in the field environment. You will partner with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to investigate, analyze, and resolve closure-related quality issues across the vehicle lifecycle. You will define and drive corrective actions to ensure durability, functionality, and customer satisfaction are maintained at the highest level. You will lead root cause analysis activities using data and physical evidence to close out quality events effectively. You will establish and maintain rigorous testing protocols that simulate real-world conditions on closure mechanisms. You will act as the primary quality liaison between the factory floor and customer-facing field operations. You will mentor junior engineers and technicians on quality methods and problem-solving standards.
What you'll do
Investigate field-reported closure defects using structured problem-solving methods and quality tools. Develop and execute validation test plans that evaluate closure performance under varied environmental and usage conditions. Analyze data from field returns, warranty claims, and production logs to identify systemic closure quality trends. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to implement corrective and preventive actions for closure issues. Define and maintain test procedures and acceptance criteria for closure components and assemblies. Perform physical inspections and measurements of closure parts to verify conformance to technical specifications. Partner with suppliers to resolve material, process, and performance issues impacting closure quality in the field. Establish quality metrics and reporting cadence to track closure health across the installed fleet. Lead failure mode analysis using techniques such as fault tree analysis and physical evidence evaluation. Champion continuous improvement initiatives that raise the standard for closure quality and reliability over time. Support field quality audits and customer quality investigations with thorough technical responses and data. Document all investigations, decisions, and verification activities in quality systems for traceability and compliance. Translate customer feedback into technical requirements and test cases for closure systems. Drive closure-related quality projects from problem identification through resolution and verification.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving field quality issues related to mechanical assemblies or sealing systems. Strong understanding of quality methods, root cause analysis tools, and problem-solving frameworks such as 8D. Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and test procedures for closure components and systems. Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach to identifying trends and driving corrective actions. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain technical findings to diverse audiences. Self-motivated mindset with strong ownership of tasks through completion and follow-through. Detail-oriented work style with excellent organizational and time-management skills. Willingness to travel as required to support field investigations, audits, and testing activities.
Nice to have
Experience with automotive, mobility, or transportation hardware quality systems. Familiarity with closure systems, seals, gaskets, or related sealing technologies. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier quality management in a production environment.
