What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain core engine components such as threading mechanisms, asset loading systems, and memory management solutions to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and enhance internal tools and build systems that facilitate collaboration within our distributed engineering team.
- Analyze and optimize performance-critical code paths tailored for various target platforms, ensuring smooth gameplay experiences.
- Collaborate closely with artists, technical designers, and gameplay engineers to enhance the usability and functionality of the engine.
- Establish engineering standards for documentation, testing, and quality assurance related to systems-Level code.
- Engage in architectural discussions and contribute to technical roadmaps that support the long-term scalability of our systems.
- Conduct thorough performance profiling and debugging to identify bottlenecks and improve overall system efficiency.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high-quality code standards across the team.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our development practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge to foster a culture of learning and growth within the team.
- Assist in the integration of new technologies and tools that enhance our development workflow and product offerings.
- Contribute to the overall vision of our educational products by providing insights based on technical feasibility and user experience.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in the field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, particularly in runtime infrastructure, game engine systems, or low-Level tooling development.
- Strong proficiency in modern C++ programming, along with experience in systems-Level debugging and performance analysis techniques.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and build systems, particularly with tools like Bazel or CMake.
- Solid understanding of multithreading concepts, platform-Level constraints, and memory management practices.
- Proven experience in shipping at least one product on mobile, console, or PC platforms, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the development lifecycle.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with adaptive learning platforms, educational technology solutions, or learning management systems that enhance student engagement.
- A background in game engine programming, particularly in areas such as physics, rendering, animation, or optimization techniques.
- Experience with DevOps methodologies and cloud platforms, including Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS, to streamline development processes.
- Previous experience in developing mobile games for Android or iOS platforms, showcasing versatility in game development.
- Knowledge of AI/ML applications or data analytics as they pertain to gaming or educational contexts.
- Understanding of inclusive design principles and accessibility standards to ensure our products are usable by all students.
- A history of contributing to open-source projects or publishing educational applications or games that demonstrate your commitment to the field.
- Experience with immersive learning technologies or AR/VR applications that enhance educational experiences.
