Key facts
What you'll do
- Set the technical direction and own the end-to-end architecture for your domain's systems, guiding design from initial concept through production operation.
- Lead technical design for ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives, evaluating tradeoffs, aligning stakeholders, and driving implementation to completion.
- Be instrumental in transitioning your team's systems from a monolith to a service-oriented architecture, defining clear service boundaries and contracts.
- Evaluate and select technologies with a bias toward solutions that ship quickly, scale sustainably, and reduce long-term operational burden.
- Write production code as a hands-on individual contributor, delivering high-quality implementations while remaining deeply involved in coding decisions.
- Own end-to-end delivery of roadmap projects, managing design, coding, testing, and production release activities with strong risk management.
- Manage your team's short-term roadmap spanning the next two quarters, proactively surfacing execution, cost, and technical risks while driving pragmatic resolution.
- Partner with product, design, and QA to define and iterate on product requirements, ensuring alignment between user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
- Build and maintain reusable platform abstractions, tools, and documentation that raise the productivity and effectiveness of the entire engineering organization.
- Analyze complex workflows in financial services and translate them into reliable, intuitive software experiences that enable faster, better decision-making.
- Collaborate with data and analytics teams to instrument systems, measure outcomes, and continuously improve product and operational performance.
- Act as a mentor and technical role model, elevating the capabilities of your team through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.
Requirements
- You are authorized to work in the United States or Canada without sponsorship for the duration of this role.
- You have the right to work in the country you will be employed in based on your employment eligibility.
- You have at least 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- You have demonstrated experience owning technical direction and architecture for complex software systems.
- You have hands-on production experience writing, deploying, and operating software in cloud environments.
- You have a strong track record of delivering roadmap commitments in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- You have experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including product, design, and quality assurance.
- You have deep programming expertise in at least one modern programming language and understand software design patterns deeply.
Nice to have
- Experience building and operating platforms used by multiple product teams.
- Experience with financial services data, workflows, or compliance considerations.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools or infrastructure for software engineering.
- Experience contributing to open source projects or technical communities.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical strategy at scale.
Practical notes
This role is full-time and based in the Americas region, requiring eligibility to work in the selected country without sponsorship. Travel may be required within the regions of operation for team collaboration, company events, or customer visits.
