About the role
Level is seeking a Senior Social Media Strategist to take charge of their social media presence across a variety of platforms. This role involves developing and executing strategic plans to increase brand awareness, foster community engagement, and manage the company's online reputation. You will be responsible for shaping how students, parents, and educators interact with Level's educational products and community initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to content creation, community management, and crisis response, ensuring that the brand maintains a positive and engaging presence online. As a key member of the marketing and communications team, you will collaborate closely with content creators, creative services, and other departments to deliver consistent messaging aligned with company goals.

What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive social media strategies across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Discord, Reddit, and X, ensuring alignment with overall brand objectives and audience engagement goals.
- Manage the creation, curation, and scheduling of engaging educational content such as short-form videos, Reels, carousels, threads, and live sessions, tailored to the specific audiences of each platform.
- Act as the primary social media voice during sensitive or crisis situations, coordinating with legal and communications teams to craft appropriate responses and manage reputation risks effectively.
- Monitor brand mentions, sentiment, and trending conversations across all social media channels to identify potential issues early and respond promptly to maintain a positive brand image.
- Optimize content for each platform's unique audience, format, and algorithmic preferences to maximize reach, engagement, and conversions.
- Select, implement, and manage social media management, scheduling, and listening tools to streamline team workflows and improve monitoring capabilities.
- Build and nurture active online communities by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and care, fostering a sense of trust and community.
- Collaborate closely with Content, Creative Services, Communications, Publishing, and Marketing teams to ensure messaging consistency, brand integrity, and campaign alignment across all social channels.
- Track, analyze, and report on key performance metrics such as engagement rates, reach, follower growth, sentiment, and conversions, using insights to refine and improve social media strategies.
- Support social media components of product launches, seasonal campaigns, and paid social advertising initiatives, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Stay informed about emerging social media trends, new tools, influential creators, and shifts within the education and EdTech landscape to keep the brand innovative and relevant.
- Manage social media crisis protocols, ensuring rapid response and coordinated communication during critical incidents to protect brand reputation.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure all content and interactions adhere to relevant regulations and policies, especially concerning student data and privacy.
- Contribute to the development of social media guidelines, best practices, and training materials for team members and stakeholders.
- Assist in creating social media content calendars, planning editorial themes, and coordinating content production schedules.
- Engage with community members, educators, and students to foster a positive and active online environment that aligns with Level's mission and values.
- Support the social media aspects of community engagement initiatives, including partnerships, collaborations, and outreach programs.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and industry best practices to continually enhance social media effectiveness.
- Participate in regular team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and strategy reviews to ensure social media efforts support broader marketing and organizational goals.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on social media management experience, with a proven track record managing TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X for brands or organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis communications or reputation management on social media platforms, with the ability to respond swiftly and effectively during sensitive situations.
- Strong judgment skills to determine when to respond, escalate, or ignore social media interactions, especially under pressure.
- Ability to adapt content and messaging for different platform audiences, following best practices and platform-specific nuances.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing growth in followers, engagement rates, and successful campaign outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of crafting engaging captions, official statements, and crisis responses.
- Experience working collaboratively with creative, content, and marketing teams in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with native analytics tools, Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics, Google Analytics, and social listening platforms like Meltwater or Brandwatch.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of social media advertising and paid campaign management is a plus.
- Familiarity with the education sector, EdTech, or related industries is preferred but not required.
- Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights to improve social media performance.
