Key facts
What you'll do
- Operate and maintain heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to transport equipment and materials to various job sites.
- Conduct thorough inspections of drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, and other issues that require attention.
- Collaborate with team members to develop effective drainage solutions tailored to specific site conditions.
- Utilize advanced drainage equipment and technology to carry out cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks efficiently.
- Prepare detailed reports on site conditions, work performed, and any recommendations for future maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while performing all tasks, prioritizing the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns they may have.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in drainage engineering and related fields.
- Assist in the planning and execution of emergency response operations for drainage-related incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs, ensuring that all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Work collaboratively with other departments within Lanes Group to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices within the drainage engineering team.
Requirements
- Valid HGV driving license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in drainage engineering or a related field, ideally with a minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of drainage systems, maintenance techniques, and relevant regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive approach to tasks.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards in the construction and engineering sectors.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation purposes.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts as required.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and training in drainage engineering practices.
Nice to have
- Certification in drainage or waste management, such as a City & Guilds qualification.
- Experience with CCTV drainage surveys and other diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations related to drainage and waste management.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, enhancing client interaction skills.
