About the role
Lalamove is actively building out its legal function in Hong Kong and requires a disciplined legal associate to handle the full scope of our commercial obligations. You will be responsible for owning the drafting, negotiation, and lifecycle management of a wide array of commercial agreements that underpin our daily logistics operations. This role requires you to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance that allows our business teams to move quickly while remaining compliant. You will act as a key advisor to departments such as operations, finance, and product on matters ranging from vendor arrangements to customer terms. The successful candidate will manage concurrent litigation and dispute resolution matters while ensuring our internal policies reflect current law and business practice. You will play a central role in maintaining the integrity of our contractual templates and standard terms of business. This position offers exposure to fast-paced tech and logistics environments where your work will directly influence risk management and operational scalability. You will contribute to the development of a robust legal culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues through training and day-to-day consultations.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, service agreements, and vendor terms to secure optimal business outcomes.
- Analyze proposed business initiatives and identify legal risks, providing clear and actionable advice to stakeholders.
- Manage litigation files, coordinate with external counsel, and respond to legal claims efficiently to protect company interests.
- Draft and update company policies, terms and conditions, privacy notices, and internal guidelines to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in Hong Kong and other relevant jurisdictions, summarizing impacts for leadership.
- Conduct legal training sessions for non-legal staff to elevate awareness of compliance obligations and risk mitigation.
- Perform legal research on complex issues and synthesize findings into practical recommendations for business decisions.
- Coordinate due diligence materials and assist in the preparation of documents for partnerships and corporate transactions.
- Liaise with internal departments to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and ensure alignment on legal deliverables.
- Support senior legal counsel in managing special projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Hold a law degree and be qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong or as a barrister or solicitor in England and Wales.
- Have accumulated between 1 and 3 years of post-qualification experience in a multinational corporation or a recognized law firm.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of general commercial law, including contract law, agency, and corporate transactions.
- Show experience in managing regulatory requirements for cross-border business operations in the logistics or technology sectors.
- Prove the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and manage competing tasks in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Exhibit strong commercial judgment and a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
- Be fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret legal documents and translate them into practical business terms.
- Display excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to build trusted relationships with colleagues across departments.
Nice to have
- Experience working with logistics, e-commerce, or technology companies in a legal capacity.
- Familiarity with technology contracts, data protection regulations, and digital transaction frameworks.
- Knowledge of corporate structuring in Hong Kong and other Asian jurisdictions.
- Exposure to drafting and negotiating commercial leases or service level agreements.
- Background in handling regulatory filings or working with compliance management systems.
Practical notes
This position is based in the Hong Kong SAR and operates full-time during standard business hours. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel within the region as may be required for business purposes. There may be limited travel outside of regular office hours to meet urgent business or regulatory deadlines.
