Lead Product Manager, Core Data
Job description
About the role
You will own the end-to-end product strategy and execution for the Core Data Ingestion Platform at Klaviyo. This role requires you to define the long-term vision for how structured and unstructured data enters, transforms, and becomes reliable within our systems. You will act as the primary product authority for a critical platform, balancing deep architectural nuance with long-range business objectives. You will drive measurable outcomes by partnering with engineering, integration, and downstream data teams to modernize legacy ingestion workflows. At the Lead level, you will set organizational direction, influence engineering leadership, and align stakeholders on a unified data platform strategy. This role demands comfort with ambiguity and the ability to translate complex technical constraints into clear product decisions. Please note this role requires 5 days/week in our Boston office.
Key facts
What you'll do
Define the long-term vision and ownership boundaries for the Core Data Ingestion Platform team where ambiguity currently exists.
Develop and maintain a coherent, high-impact product roadmap that balances foundational investments with active initiatives and refines prioritization across concurrent projects.
Design the strategy for ingesting large volumes of data from numerous sources, thinking holistically about data movement, lifecycle, and reliability at scale.
Partner with engineering teams to design ingestion systems that are scalable, resilient, and maintainable while navigating tradeoffs across performance, latency, cost, and reliability.
Institutionalize AI and automation as force multipliers to reduce operational toil, improve pipeline observability, and accelerate the roadmap through intelligent tooling.
Establish instrumentation and success metrics such as ingestion reliability, pipeline latency, data freshness, and change failure rate to validate impact and adjust priorities based on outcomes.
Drive improvements in observability, monitoring, and operational excellence for ingestion systems, partnering with SRE and platform teams to ensure reliability is built into every component.
Identify and drive architectural simplifications that improve platform health, reduce complexity, and unlock innovation across the organization over time.
Collaborate closely with integration teams to ensure data ingestion workflows remain robust, secure, and aligned with evolving source systems and downstream requirements.
Synthesize feedback from internal and external stakeholders to translate business needs into clear product requirements and technical specifications.
Champion quality by defining guardrails, best practices, and standards that ensure consistent, reliable data flows across the platform.
Lead cross-functional alignment sessions to ensure shared understanding of priorities, timelines, and tradeoffs among engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Own key milestones and delivery commitments, communicating progress, risks, and dependencies transparently to leadership and stakeholders.
Continuously explore emerging technologies and patterns in data ingestion, streaming, and observability to recommend strategic investments for the platform.

You must have 8+ years of experience in product management, data platforms, or engineering roles with a track record of delivering complex systems.
You must have 5+ years of experience working with data ingestion, processing, or pipeline systems and understand the challenges of moving large volumes of data reliably.
You must have hands-on experience with distributed systems concepts, including messaging, streaming, backpressure, and fault tolerance.
You must be comfortable working with both batch and streaming data paradigms and understand the tradeoffs involved in each approach.
You must have strong technical judgment and the ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs without needing to write code daily.
You must have experience defining and maintaining product roadmaps for platform-level initiatives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to influence without direct authority through clear narratives and data-driven reasoning.
