Key Responsibilities
The Proposal Manager leads and improves the procurement response process for K-12 district and state-level RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs. This involves actively monitoring procurement channels and grant databases to build a prioritized list of opportunities. The manager will design modular response templates to accelerate drafting while ensuring brand consistency and accuracy. A critical function is coordinating reviews with legal, finance, engineering, and sales teams to resolve risk, pricing, and technical constraints.
The role oversees content assembly, version control, and final quality checks before secure submission. Another key duty is establishing partner playbooks that guide vendors through setup, data privacy agreements, and accessibility documentation. The manager will also track proposal performance metrics to refine messaging and improve win rates. This requires maintaining deep fluency in Khan Academy products, particularly Khan Academy Districts and Khanmigo.
Requirements
Candidates must hold at least three years of experience managing proposals or complex cross-functional projects. The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with consistent discretion is mandatory. Clear written communication skills are required to adapt tone for executives, teachers, and partners. Thriving in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines is essential. Comfort with researching district procurement portals and public records for relevant data is necessary.
Compensation and Location
This position is based in Mountain View, California, or allows for remote work within the Continental United States and Hawaii. It is a full-time role. The base compensation is $132,808.00. The on-target total compensation is $146,088.00.
