Kciconstruction is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer specializing in Civil and Department of Transportation (DOT) projects to join our dynamic team in Creve Coeur, Missouri. As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing various aspects of civil engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What you'll do
- Oversee the planning and execution of civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Conduct site visits to assess project progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Prepare and review engineering designs, specifications, and technical reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure that work is performed according to specifications and timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and evaluate contractor proposals to select the most qualified vendors for project execution.
- Monitor project expenditures and assist in the management of project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and correspondence, to facilitate effective communication among stakeholders.
- Support the quality assurance and quality control processes by conducting inspections and tests on materials and workmanship.
- Engage with local government agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and facilitate project approvals.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance project delivery and engineering processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on DOT projects preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and relevant regulations.
- Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with construction management practices and contract administration.
Nice to have
- Experience with sustainable design practices and green building initiatives.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its applications in civil engineering.
- Previous experience in public works projects or municipal engineering.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar credentials.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for project documentation and reporting.
- Familiarity with project management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of construction materials and methods, as well as safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills to manage project-related challenges.
