What you'll do
- Oversee the planning and execution of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, and resource allocation.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships to optimize project costs.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that construction work meets established standards and specifications.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel, addressing any engineering-related questions or concerns that may arise during construction.
- Monitor project budgets and schedules, providing regular updates to management and stakeholders on progress and any potential risks.
- Participate in project meetings, presenting updates and collaborating with team members to resolve challenges and enhance project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on job sites, conducting safety audits and training as necessary.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in construction technology, integrating innovative practices into project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in project engineering or construction management, preferably in the commercial or residential sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and techniques, along with relevant building codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, or similar applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with budgeting and cost management principles in a construction context.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
- Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its application in project management.
- Familiarity with contract negotiation and administration processes.
- Previous experience in a leadership role or mentoring junior engineers.
