What you'll do
- Oversee the entire preconstruction process, ensuring that all estimates are accurate and align with project specifications and client expectations.
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators and preconstruction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets, including labor, materials, and overhead costs, to ensure profitability and competitiveness.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to identify potential challenges and develop innovative solutions during the preconstruction phase.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and feasibility studies to inform decision-making and project planning.
- Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and reliable service.
- Prepare and present detailed proposals and bid packages to clients, showcasing Kbebuilding's capabilities and value proposition.
- Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the estimation process.
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions to inform strategic planning and improve estimating practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards throughout the preconstruction phase.
- Participate in post-project reviews to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement in future projects.
- Act as a key liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in preconstruction and estimating, preferably within the commercial construction sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from preconstruction through to completion.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Sage Estimating or similar platforms.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or similar credentials.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) and its application in preconstruction processes.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a similar organization.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations specific to Connecticut.
