Compliance, Financial Crimes
Job description
About the role
Kalshi is seeking a meticulous and proactive professional to join our Compliance team in defining and driving our transaction monitoring and financial crime compliance framework. This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of detecting, investigating, and escalating suspicious activity within our prediction markets. You will be instrumental in building the operational backbone that ensures our market integrity and regulatory compliance. The position demands a high degree of ownership over policies, procedures, and daily execution across monitoring and investigative workflows. You will be the primary architect of our transaction monitoring program, shaping how we identify and mitigate financial crime risks. This is a hands-on role that blends strategic program development with rigorous day-to-day oversight of alerts and investigations. You will work directly with key stakeholders to embed compliance into our product and operational infrastructure. Your judgment will directly influence our ability to operate safely and scale responsibly in a regulated market.
Key facts
What you'll do
Build and operate Kalshi's transaction monitoring program, including alerting frameworks, investigation workflows, escalation standards, policies, procedures, and documentation.
Review and disposition transaction monitoring alerts, investigate potentially suspicious activity, and coordinate the preparation and filing of SARs where applicable.
Conduct KYC reviews and remediation, including investigating customer risk indicators and resolving escalated onboarding or account issues.
Own Kalshi's ongoing OFAC and sanctions rescreening processes and maintain clear, regulator-ready documentation and audit trails.
Perform retrospective reviews of transaction activity and work through existing monitoring and KYC backlogs.
Support AML audits, regulatory examinations, and diligence requests from banking, payments, FCM, and other strategic partners.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Payments, Compliance, and Operations to improve automation and controls across AML, KYC, fraud, sanctions, and transaction monitoring workflows.
Identify emerging financial crime risks associated with new products, payment methods, customer types, and international expansion and translate them into practical controls.
Develop metrics and reporting to measure alert volumes, investigation outcomes, turnaround times, KYC remediation, and other indicators of program effectiveness.
Support broader market surveillance and DCM compliance initiatives where financial crime and trading activity intersect.
Requirements
7-10 years of relevant experience across AML, KYC, fraud, transaction monitoring, financial crimes compliance, or related functions.
Significant hands-on experience investigating and dispositioning transaction monitoring alerts and identifying potentially suspicious activity.
Strong familiarity with SAR investigation, drafting, escalation, and filing requirements.
Experience designing or materially improving AML, KYC, fraud, or transaction monitoring policies, procedures, controls, and workflows.
Experience in a regulated fintech, broker-dealer, financial institution, crypto or digital asset company, payments business, exchange, or similarly complex financial environment.
Strong working knowledge of KYC/CDD, OFAC and sanctions screening, customer risk assessment, and financial crime typologies.
Ability to operate effectively in a high-volume environment without sacrificing investigative rigor or attention to detail.
Strong judgment around when to escalate activity - able to distinguish meaningful risk from noise without systematically over-flagging or under-flagging.
Comfortable moving between program design and hands-on execution; you are equally willing to write the procedure and work the alerts.
Practical notes
The role is based in our New York Office and requires full-time engagement. There are no specified working hours, travel requirements, visa conditions, or application deadlines outlined in the source material. This is an at-will opportunity aligned with the needs of a rapidly growing financial market. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership from day one. Success in this role will be measured by the strength of your program, the accuracy of your investigations, and your ability to partner across the business to mitigate emerging risks. This position is critical to maintaining the integrity of our markets and supporting our mission to bring more truth to the world through the power of markets.
