About the role
As a Payroll Specialist at Jobandtalent, you will play a crucial role in managing payroll processes for our clients in Germany. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance within the German market. You will collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, making sure that all employees are compensated correctly and on schedule. What you'll do
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with German labor laws and tax regulations.
- Process payroll data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status, while maintaining confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to gather necessary data for payroll processing, including attendance records, overtime, and deductions.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and relevant stakeholders, providing insights into payroll trends and discrepancies.
- Ensure timely submission of payroll taxes and contributions to social security and other statutory obligations, staying updated on any changes in legislation.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
- Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support the onboarding process by providing new employees with information regarding payroll procedures and benefits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll software and tools, ensuring the team utilizes the most effective solutions for payroll management.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in payroll and compliance matters.
- Work closely with external vendors and agencies to ensure seamless payroll operations and compliance with local regulations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably within the German market.
- Strong understanding of German labor laws, tax regulations, and social security contributions.
- Proficiency in payroll software and tools, with experience in systems such as DATEV or SAP being a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll data and calculations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in German and English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Experience in handling sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Nice to have
- Certification in payroll or HR management, such as a Payroll Certification from the German Payroll Association.
- Familiarity with international payroll processing, especially for companies with expatriate employees.
- Experience in working with remote teams and managing payroll for employees in different locations.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and their integration with payroll software.
- Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, particularly GDPR, as they relate to payroll processing.
