What you'll do
- Lead and manage multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and compliance with safety regulations, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
- Supervise and mentor construction teams, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and present project updates and reports to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in all aspects of project management.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols on-site, fostering a culture of safety and compliance among all team members.
- Manage procurement processes for materials and equipment, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery to avoid project delays.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any construction-related challenges that arise, utilizing problem-solving skills to maintain project momentum.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Oversee the financial aspects of projects, including budget tracking, cost control, and reporting to ensure profitability.
- Participate in post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement for future projects.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in construction management or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully completing large-scale projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations, particularly in the Virgin Islands context.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Proficient in project management software and tools, with a solid understanding of budgeting and financial management.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges that arise on-site.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
- Familiarity with local construction codes and regulations specific to the Virgin Islands.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar credentials.
- Experience in managing remote teams or projects in island or offshore locations.
- Knowledge of advanced construction technologies and methodologies.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or similar).
- Strong understanding of AutoCAD or similar design software is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
