What you'll do

• Lead and manage all phases of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish project specifications and timelines.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, adjusting as necessary to accommodate changes in scope or unforeseen challenges.
• Implement effective communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed about project status and any potential issues.
• Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications.
• Manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring that financial targets are met.
• Train and mentor junior staff and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Resolve conflicts and issues that arise on-site, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to maintain project momentum.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on project progress, including updates on timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with local authorities to ensure all necessary permits and inspections are obtained and conducted.
• Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and high performance among all team members.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management or a related field, with a strong focus on residential and commercial projects.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
• In-depth knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes specific to the US Virgin Islands.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate clear and effective interactions with team members and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools, with a solid understanding of budgeting and financial management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project demands.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience working in the Caribbean or similar tropical environments.
• Familiarity with sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
• Certification from a recognized construction management organization (e.g., CCM, PMP).
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, to communicate with a diverse workforce and clientele.

Skills & tools

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design software is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for budgeting and reporting.
• Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
