About the role
You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for a core IXL learning solution, partnering with stakeholders to define and validate long-term product vision. You will translate complex user needs into clear product strategies that balance student learning outcomes with teacher and district workflows. You will act as the primary user advocate, ensuring every prioritization decision reflects measurable impact on learner engagement and mastery. You will leverage data and qualitative insights to iterate on product experiences, driving continuous improvement across the IXL platform. You will coordinate cross-functional execution to bring new capabilities to market with precision and clarity. You will communicate product rationale and trade-offs to leadership and partners, aligning on shared objectives for growth and retention. You will champion experimentation and learning, using results to refine hypotheses and guide future investments in the product.

What you'll do
Analyze student, teacher, and administrator workflows to uncover unmet needs and opportunities for product innovation.
Define product requirements and success metrics, translating ambiguous problems into structured product specifications and user flows.
Partner with visual designers to prototype and refine user interfaces, focusing on clarity, accessibility, and ease of use for diverse learners.
Collaborate with engineering leads to assess feasibility, scope, and technical trade-offs, ensuring alignment between product ambition and implementation realities.
Own roadmap planning and prioritization, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term strategic objectives across IXL subject areas.
Coordinate sprint planning, status updates, and cross-team dependencies, maintaining visibility into timelines and risks for all stakeholders.
Conduct discovery research, including interviews, usability testing, and classroom observations, to validate assumptions before major investments.
Evaluate product performance using quantitative analytics and qualitative feedback, iterating based on evidence to improve outcomes.
Represent IXL in external discussions with pilot districts and schools, gathering insights that feed into product evolution and marketing narratives.
Drive the execution of product launches, ensuring go-to-market materials, training content, and support resources are prepared and aligned.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement, documenting learnings and sharing best practices across product and design teams.
Lead experiments with new learning modalities and adaptive technologies, testing how they can enhance personalization within IXL environments.
Maintain a deep understanding of competitive offerings and education policy trends, translating this awareness into product differentiators.
Support regional rollouts and platform integrations, working with customer success to ensure smooth adoption and ongoing value realization.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
Bring 5+ years of product management experience, or a combination of product design and project management roles; strong track record of delivering high quality, efficient, creative solutions to tough problems.
Demonstrate exceptional analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills.
Show excellence in written and verbal communication, with an eye to clarity and conciseness.
Exhibit high degree of user empathy for teachers and learners, understanding how they will interact with a product and what will and won't appeal to them.
Have excellent project management and organizational skills, with proven experience leading multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across teams to make things happen.
Display curiosity, open-mindedness, and an unfailingly positive attitude.
Show interest in K-12 education, with classroom or teaching experience considered a plus.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities may shift based on student needs and school demands.
Commit to maintaining data privacy and security standards in all product decisions and collaborations.
Willingness to work from our San Mateo, CA headquarters on a full-time basis as required by the role.
Ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality in deliverables.
