Demo Engineer
IroncladhqUSAFull Time4w ago$120K - $140K
Job description
About the role
Join the Customer Value department as a Demo Engineer, focusing on internal tooling. You will be the primary developer for The Forge, an internal platform that streamlines demo creation for Solution Engineers, Enterprise Architects, and Account Executives. This role involves end-to-end ownership of an internal product, from design to operation.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Act as the lead developer for The Forge, an internal demo-tooling platform, managing its design, construction, deployment, and ongoing operation as a production-level internal product.
- Build and maintain key components of the platform, including the "Armory" tool hub, an Environment Builder for cloning golden environments and setting feature flags, a feature-flag reference, and guides/scripts.
- Develop backend services and asynchronous build jobs to coordinate environment creation using Ironclad's public API and internal tools, ensuring recoverability, clear job status, and audit trails.
- Transform AI demo builders and scripts into supported, reusable tools, integrating LLM-powered features into an accessible interface for non-technical field users.
- Manage daily operations, including deployments, monitoring, structured logging, and initial incident response for the platform, collaborating with engineering for setup and consultations.
- Design and create demo environments, assets, and scripts tailored to specific use cases and industries for the field team.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to align with roadmaps, ensure product changes are reflected in demo assets and The Forge, and provide field feedback, focusing on product readiness to prevent demo environment issues upon release.
- Offer technical assistance to Solution Engineers and Enterprise Architects for specialized demo creation, identifying opportunities for automation and self-service.
- Propose engineering best practices and scale the platform as new tools are introduced.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 or more years of experience building and delivering scalable web applications; direct experience managing or owning an internal tool or product from start to finish is highly preferred.
- Strong full-stack development skills, particularly with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js, and experience with modern frontend frameworks (React is preferred).
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Run jobs, Cloud Tasks, Firestore/NoSQL, Secret Manager) or comparable AWS/Azure services, and comfort deploying and operating your own services.
- Solid experience with APIs and integration technologies (REST, JSON/HTTP, webhooks, middleware), including authentication and orchestration of internal and public endpoints.
- Experience designing asynchronous or job-based workflows, managing partial failures and recovery, and building for auditability and least-privilege access.
- Familiarity with authentication and access control methods (SSO via Okta/Google, IAP, RBAC) for internal applications.
- Experience building with or integrating generative AI or LLM APIs into applications; familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) is a plus.
- Ability to translate business processes into product features and system solutions, ideally involving legal, sales, or procurement users, and to make technical capabilities accessible to non-technical field users.
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, relevant partner systems such as Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite, Coupa, Microsoft Dynamics/SharePoint, ServiceNow, Workday, and Postman for cross-system demo integrations.
- A systems-oriented thinker who balances immediate field needs with long-term scalability and reusability; self-directed, collaborative across teams, and possesses strong communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
