About the role
You will join Lab49, an Ion company, to build mobile solutions for global financial institutions as part of a project team dedicated to upgrading a flagship wealth management platform for ultra-high-net-worth clients. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of native iOS features, from initial discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, and production deployment. You will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into robust, scalable mobile experiences that meet the stringent performance and security standards of the financial industry. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure delivered solutions align with strategic business objectives and user expectations. You will mentor junior engineers on best practices and contribute to establishing engineering standards that enhance code quality and team velocity. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying technical debt and proposing sustainable refactors that improve long-term maintainability. Ultimately, your work will directly impact the reliability and user satisfaction of critical financial tools used by institutions worldwide.

What you'll do
- Architect and implement new native iOS modules using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit while adhering to strict security protocols.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to refine feature specifications and ensure seamless integration.
- Translate complex business logic into clean, testable, and maintainable code following established architectural patterns such as MVVM.
- Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive unit and integration test suites to safeguard application stability and prevent regressions.
- Diagnose, isolate, and resolve intricate bugs across the codebase while optimizing application performance, memory usage, and battery efficiency.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging mobile frameworks, libraries, and industry best practices to maintain technological relevance.
- Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and uphold high standards of code quality, readability, and documentation.
- Work within an agile delivery framework to estimate tasks, plan sprints, and deliver incremental value in alignment with project milestones.
- Interface with DevOps teams to understand and optimize mobile CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable and efficient build and release processes.
- Serve as a technical lead for specific features, guiding decision-making and resolving technical challenges that impact the project timeline.
Requirements
- Possess 8-10+ years of professional experience building native iOS applications from concept to launch.
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Swift, Xcode, SwiftUI, and UIKit, with a deep understanding of their respective ecosystems.
- Show extensive experience working with GitLab for version control, merge requests, and repository management workflows.
- Prove a strong ability to integrate RESTful APIs and evaluate, then incorporate third-party libraries into production-grade applications.
- Exhibit thorough knowledge of mobile UI/UX design principles and human interface guidelines to create intuitive user experiences.
- Hold a solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Display competence in debugging applications using instruments and logging tools to identify and fix performance bottlenecks.
- Commit to writing clean, maintainable code and adhering to internal coding standards and documentation requirements.
Nice to have
- Maintain a portfolio of applications that have been successfully published to the App Store and are publicly available for review.
- Have hands-on experience with enterprise app distribution methods and familiarity with AppConfig standards and implementation.
- Bring background working within agile development environments, participating in ceremonies such as standups, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
- Show familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, building, and deployment processes for iOS applications.
- Possess domain expertise in wealth management, asset management, or other regulated financial services sectors.
Practical notes
This role is based in New York and Dallas and requires relocation or the ability to work from one of these locations. The engagement is full-time, and the schedule follows standard business hours with the expectation of occasional overtime during critical release periods. Travel is not required for this position.
