What you'll do
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, implementing solutions to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual workload.
- Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
- Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data and protect against unauthorized access, including regular updates and patch management.
- Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery planning to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to maintain clear communication and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior administrators and other IT staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can enhance system performance and streamline operations.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours support for critical system issues as needed.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on industry trends and advancements in Linux administration.
- Assist in the planning and execution of system upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux system administration, with a strong understanding of various Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and system management tasks.
- Extensive experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configurations.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to streamline system deployments and updates.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) to ensure system health and performance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, LPIC, CompTIA Linux+) are a plus.

- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and their integration with Linux environments.
