About the role
This position manages the execution and refinement of food safety and quality initiatives for Home Chef and Tempo. You will lead the SQF Management System, oversee sanitation programs, and foster a strong culture of safety across our production operations. The role requires ownership of systemic food safety processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. You will act as a key leader ensuring that food safety protocols are not only followed but are consistently enhanced. This position is responsible for aligning operational practices with corporate quality objectives and regulatory expectations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to safeguard product integrity and consumer trust on a large scale. Success in this role is defined by the ability to sustain compliance while enabling operational excellence and team development.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Enforce and refine Food Safety and Quality Systems to ensure strict adherence to SQF compliance standards.
- Direct the cleaning, sanitation, and master sanitation schedule programs to uphold the highest levels of facility hygiene.
- Serve as the SQF Practitioner, managing documentation, record control, and audit readiness with precision and accountability.
- Lead the Management Review process, analyzing performance metrics and driving improvements based on data insights.
- Support 24/7 production operations by resolving escalations promptly and providing reliable operational coverage during critical periods.
- Collaborate with plant teams to identify process gaps, investigate deviations, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Coach and develop supervisory staff through regular meetings, performance reviews, and structured professional growth initiatives.
- Assist with recruiting and personnel management for shift staff, ensuring teams are adequately trained and resourced.
- Deliver training sessions and communicate updates to corporate and plant stakeholders to ensure alignment on food safety policies.
- Monitor and report on key quality indicators, translating complex data into actionable strategies for operational enhancement.
- Champion best practices in food safety culture, encouraging ownership and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Oversee the implementation of lean principles within quality processes to reduce waste and improve overall efficiency.
- Partner with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure that food safety infrastructure supports production objectives.
- Maintain a proactive approach to risk management, identifying potential hazards before they impact product safety or regulatory standing.
Requirements
- Associate degree or completion of a two-year program from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, or quality assurance environments.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and demonstrated experience maintaining food safety programs.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for meetings, audits, or operational support as required by the role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary for interacting with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Understanding of regulatory expectations and food safety standards relevant to the manufacturing sector.
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures while maintaining ethical and professional conduct.
Nice to have
- Experience with USDA, GFSI, and SQF audits, including participation in audit preparation and response activities.
