About the role
The Quality Control Tech monitors production lines to ensure all meal kits meet strict safety and accuracy standards. You will work directly with production teams to verify ingredients, portion sizes, and labeling requirements before products are shipped to customers. This position requires a meticulous eye for detail to catch discrepancies that could impact food safety or customer satisfaction. You will be the final safeguard that prevents incorrect or unsafe products from reaching subscribers in the market. Every shift will focus on maintaining consistency and adherence to established protocols across the line. Collaboration with team members is essential to resolve issues quickly and keep the workflow efficient. Your responsibilities will directly influence the integrity of the products leaving the facility.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Inspect labels on bottles, jars, and bags for accuracy and proper placement to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Issue and verify correct portioning equipment and sample amounts for production staff to maintain recipe integrity.
- Conduct hourly physical and visual checks of meal bags and portioned ingredients to identify deviations immediately.
- Verify line setups, including meat quality, recipe cards, and box contents before the run begins.
- Document all inspections and escalate food safety or quality concerns to leadership for timely intervention.
- Perform final box verifications and correct any identified errors before shipping to prevent customer complaints.
- Maintain and sanitize quality control equipment and lab areas to uphold hygiene standards at all times.
- Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and support SQF quality programs through daily execution.
- Monitor environmental conditions in the production area to ensure they remain within approved limits.
- Record batch numbers and production times accurately to ensure full traceability for every unit.
- Assist in troubleshooting minor issues on the line to reduce downtime and improve overall efficiency.
- Review previous shift notes to understand any ongoing issues or special instructions.
- Operate scanning equipment to track inventory and ensure accurate lot traceability.
- Communicate clearly with operators to ensure alignment on quality expectations for each product run.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work the specified 2nd shift schedule from 3:45 PM to 12:15 AM.
- Professional communication skills and a team-oriented mindset to collaborate effectively.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions safely.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and maneuver equipment within the workspace.
- Strict adherence to food safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Willingness to follow all documented procedures and standard operating instructions.
- Capability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check as required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for the scheduled shifts every workweek.
- Compliance with all personal protective equipment guidelines in the production area.
- Physical ability to work in a cold environment where temperatures are maintained for product safety.
- Understanding of basic measurement units and ability to use scales and measuring tools accurately.
