About the role
The Integration Engineer
Fluid & Propulsion Systems is tasked with owning the complete lifecycle of critical vehicle assemblies from initial intake through final delivery. This role specifically manages the definition, build, review, validation, and shipping of complex hardware components. You will act as the central technical authority and primary liaison connecting design engineering, manufacturing operations, and test execution teams. The position demands a high level of precision and reliability in every assembly to ensure system success. You will apply deep mechanical systems, propulsion, and fluids knowledge within rigorous first-principles analytical frameworks. A core responsibility is to interpret design intent and convert it into explicit, executable instructions for manufacturing and test groups. This ensures that complex hardware is produced accurately and efficiently every time.
Location for this position is Los Angeles, California. The engagement is full-time. The compensation package includes a base salary of $170,000 and requires 4 years of relevant experience.
What you'll do
You will orchestrate the intake of fluid and propulsion requirements to guarantee full alignment with overarching mission objectives and performance targets. You will define the procedural pathway for assemblies related to control surface actuators and spike inlet systems as they traverse build, review, and ship phases. This procedural definition will be grounded in first-principles thinking and strict adherence to established engineering and quality standards. You will guide the detailed review of engine integration data to verify that every single interface matches the design intent exactly without deviation. You will drive validation routines and testing protocols that prove hardware reliability and functionality before any vehicle system is cleared for release. You will coordinate proactively with partners across manufacturing and test organizations to identify and resolve assembly risks at the earliest possible stage. You will establish and maintain test procedures for intricate mechanism assemblies that prove performance under realistic operational conditions. You will maintain comprehensive documentation that meticulously tracks all decisions related to fluid systems and propulsion configurations. You will support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows from intake through ship and collaborating closely with cross-functional partners. Additionally, you will ensure that all fluid and propulsion integration activities remain aligned with government customer expectations and regulatory standards.
Requirements
You hold a Bachelor degree in engineering or a related technical field as a foundational qualification. You bring 3 to 5 years of cumulative experience in hardware development within a demanding technical environment. You possess direct working experience with mechanical systems, propulsion technologies, and fluids assemblies and components. You have the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications accurately and without error. You can communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively with engineers and technicians during formal and informal reviews. You manage multiple tasks effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments while maintaining meticulous records and traceability. You are experienced in collaborating with government customers such as the Department of War and understanding their unique requirements and constraints. You demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and schedule adherence in all engineering activities.
Nice to have
Experience with high-speed vehicle integration and testing methods is valued and considered a significant advantage. Candidates with a background in rapid prototyping environments may find their skills particularly applicable.
Skills & tools
Proficiency with MS Office, Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies, CAD software, SolidWorks, and requirements management tools is required for success in this role. You should be comfortable navigating complex documentation and maintaining version control for critical design data.
