Senior Product Designer, New Channels
Job description
About the role
You will define the patient experience across Headway's fastest-growing partnership channels, owning the end-to-end journey from discovery to booking within Health Systems, EAP, and Payer Partnerships. You will act as the sole designer for these channels, making high-impact decisions on what gets built while ensuring the handoff from third-party referrals into care feels seamless, trustworthy, and human. You will translate complex platform constraints into intuitive flows, presenting prototypes directly in partner meetings that influence multi-million-dollar relationships and shape product strategy. You will work alongside a Staff PM and cross-functional teams including Payer Relations, Health System BD, and Ops to turn ambiguous problems into scalable patient journeys. As an AI-native designer, you will leverage tools like Claude, Cursor, and MagicPatterns to prototype, iterate, and validate solutions in code from planning through launch. You will own experimentation roadmaps, running sustained, multi-sprint tests that close the conversion gap between partnership-sourced and organic patients. This role is for a strategic thinker who brings product instincts, not just design craft, to reimagine the discovery and intake experience at scale. By joining Headway, you will play a direct role in making mental healthcare accessible to millions by building the systems that connect patients to care faster and more reliably.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and scale the referral-to-booking experience for patients arriving through health system partners, including the Booking Assistant tool, referrer-facing dashboards, and new intake flows as we expand to more health systems.
- Own the patient experience for EAP channels, creating onboarding flows for new payer EAP programs, leading a major experience redesign to help patients take advantage of free EAP sessions, and exploring early-stage product opportunities.
- Build co-branded patient journeys and landing pages for Payer Partnerships, improve provider directory discoverability, and optimize conversion for patients arriving through payer channels.
- Run sustained, multi-sprint experimentation initiatives to close the conversion gap between partnership-sourced and organic patients, using real conversion and retention metrics to guide decisions.
- Partner closely with a Staff PM, engineering, and cross-functional teams including Payer Relations, Health System BD, and Ops to align on goals and execution.
- Present prototypes directly in partner meetings, using design work as a persuasion tool to influence multi-million-dollar relationships and strategic decisions.
- Shape product direction for these channels by defining problems, prioritizing opportunities, and advocating for solutions based on patient and partner insights.
- Work in an AI-first design workflow, using Claude.ai to clarify problem spaces, testing assumptions, and generating patterns, behaviors, and flows with AI support.
- Prototype with Claude Code, Cursor, and MagicPatterns to build and iterate on user flows, letting AI generate pixels and code while you focus on quality and system thinking.
- Define and maintain design systems and patterns that ensure consistency, trust, and clarity across all partnership touchpoints.
Requirements
- You have designed consumer experiences within B2B2C or platform constraints, understanding how to make a third-party handoff feel native and trustworthy.
- You bring product strategy instinct, not just design craft, proactively shaping what to build based on customer insights rather than only executing what a PM hands you.
- You are fluent in experimentation, having run multi-sprint experiment arcs with real conversion and retention metrics, and you treat negative results as learning.
- You thrive in ambiguity, feeling energized by "figure out what to build" rather than "make this look better."
- You communicate design decisions clearly to non-design stakeholders such as BD, Ops, and partner teams, and you have used prototypes as persuasion tools.
- You are excited to work in an AI-native design environment where the team prototypes in MagicPatterns, Cursor, and Claude Code, with working demos as the primary artifact.
- You have experience owning experiences across multiple, distinct partner channels simultaneously while maintaining a coherent patient journey.
- You are comfortable making high-stakes design decisions that impact multi-million-dollar relationships and can present confidently to executives and partners.
Nice to have
- Experience with mental health, therapy, or healthcare platforms.
- Background in provider onboarding, credentialing, or insurance-related workflows.
- Familiarity with EAP programs and employer benefits structures.
- Knowledge of provider directory standards and search discoverability.
