Staff Product Manager, Pricing
Job description
You will be the first dedicated PM for pricing at Headway, owning the design and execution of pricing as a core growth engine. Your work will directly shape the economics of the mental healthcare marketplace for providers, patients, and payers. You will build durable systems and experiments that generate data, conviction, and new revenue streams. This role demands comfort with ambiguity as you establish the pricing function from the ground up. You will partner deeply with data science to run causal experiments that move the business. Success is defined by creating $100M+ of revenue impact through systematic pricing strategy. You will transform how Headway monetizes its platform without compromising access or experience.
Key facts
- Own pricing experimentation end-to-end by designing, running, and analyzing experiments on payout levels, take rates, fee structures, and incentive models with proper controls and measurement.
- Price and package existing features by identifying opportunities to unbundle, tier, or monetize Headway's feature set as new revenue lines while carefully balancing the provider experience and platform value.
- Define Headway's pricing philosophy by building a principled, defensible approach to setting prices that are transparent to providers, competitive in the market, and sustainable for the business.
- Inform tiering decisions with pricing data by partnering with other product teams to ensure pricing and tier design are grounded in experimental evidence, willingness-to-pay research, and elasticity data.
- Build the experimentation infrastructure necessary for rapid, controlled pricing tests across different geographies and customer segments in collaboration with Engineering and Data.
- Navigate cross-functional complexity by aligning Finance, Provider Growth, Payer, Ops, and Legal stakeholders around pricing decisions that impact every part of the business.
- Analyze marketplace dynamics to understand how pricing shifts affect provider supply, patient demand, and payer behavior within Headway's ecosystem.
- Develop financial models and business cases for pricing initiatives, forecasting revenue impact, margin implications, and long-term platform health.
- Establish rigorous measurement frameworks to track pricing performance, ensuring decisions are driven by data and causal inference rather than intuition or simple benchmarking.
- Act as the pricing domain expert, synthesizing insights from quantitative analysis, qualitative research, and competitive intelligence into clear recommendations and execution plans.
- 8+ years of Product Management experience with at least 2-3 years specifically owning pricing, monetization, or marketplace economics.
- Personal ownership of pricing or packaging strategy in a previous role where you shipped changes that moved revenue.
- Demonstrated ability to design and run pricing experiments at scale, understanding the distinction between feature A/B tests and true pricing experimentation.
- Strong quantitative fluency enabling partnership with data scientists on experiment design, causal inference, and statistical analysis.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity while building structure and process for a new team in a complex marketplace environment.
- SaaS pricing and packaging experience, including tiered models, PLG motions, and bundling strategies.
- Experience in two-sided marketplaces or platform environments where pricing simultaneously affects supply and demand dynamics.
- Familiarity with healthcare economics, reimbursement models, or regulated industry constraints is essential.
- Willingness to engage with complex stakeholder landscapes and align diverse perspectives on financially material decisions.
- Commitment to evidence-based decision making where pricing choices are validated through controlled experiments.
- Prior experience implementing pricing experiments that significantly impacted company revenue.
- Background in mental health or other highly regulated industries requiring nuanced understanding of compliance.
- Demonstrated success balancing revenue objectives with user experience in platform products.
- Experience with billing, claims, or revenue cycle management systems within healthcare contexts.
- Knowledge of insurance credentialing and payer contracting mechanics.
