About the role
You will lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that define and execute the operational backbone of Headway's business strategy. This role owns the design and implementation of scalable systems that remove administrative friction for our provider network and support our long-term growth. You will act as a thought partner to Product, Data, and Operations leaders, shaping objectives and translating complex insights into clear, actionable plans. The position requires strong judgment and comfort with ambiguity as you drive alignment and execution across a fast-moving, decentralized organization. You will build and mentor a growing team of operators, ensuring processes are efficient, transparent, and aligned with company objectives. This role focuses on creating durable, measurable impact that directly supports our mission of expanding access to mental healthcare. Your work will directly influence the trajectory of Headway by solving some of the most challenging operational problems in the business.
Key facts
What you'll do
Design and build foundations for a variety of 0-1 initiatives within the Business Operations function, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
Collaborate cross-functionally to build, execute, monitor, and implement scalable products and processes that enable us to deliver on core business challenges.
Assess and analyze data to develop strategies for accelerating progress, proactively identify areas for improvement, and deliver on roadmap priorities and team OKRs.
Build and manage a growing team to achieve these objectives, focusing on clarity, accountability, and sustainable execution.
Own critical operational workflows, removing bottlenecks and creating systems that scale as the business grows.
Translate complex insights from Product, Data, and Operations leaders into clear, actionable plans that drive measurable outcomes.
Define and track key metrics to evaluate the success of initiatives and iterate based on performance data and stakeholder feedback.
Partner with finance to model scenarios, manage budgets, and ensure resource allocation supports strategic priorities.
Serve as a liaison between clinical operations and technology teams to ensure solutions meet the needs of providers and patients.
Develop documentation and playbooks that standardize processes and enable consistent execution across teams.
Support the rollout of new features and platform changes, coordinating communication and training for cross-functional stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate operational risks by maintaining visibility into dependencies and emerging issues.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement by proposing experiments and piloting new ways of working.
Act as an owner for end-to-end initiatives, driving projects from ideation through execution and post-mortem analysis.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in operational roles at high-growth companies, with some background in consulting, finance, business operations preferred but not required.
Data is your first-language; you enjoy and are skilled at digging through complex data to solve ambiguous problems.
