About the role
Harpergc is seeking a dedicated Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent to join our dynamic team in Greenville, South Carolina. This full-time position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about construction management and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing construction activities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

What you'll do
- Oversee daily construction operations, ensuring that work is performed according to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and report on key performance indicators, including schedule adherence and budget management.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality control measures.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including daily reports, change orders, and progress updates.
- Facilitate communication between the field team and office staff to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
- Train and mentor junior staff and subcontractors on best practices in construction management and safety protocols.
- Manage site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment rentals, and waste disposal, to optimize site efficiency.
- Participate in project meetings, providing input on project status, challenges, and solutions to enhance team collaboration.
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on commercial or residential projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites as needed.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, PMP, or equivalent are preferred.
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
Nice to have
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction methods.
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) and other advanced construction technologies.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of local construction codes and regulations specific to South Carolina.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another language is a plus.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and construction management software.

- Familiarity with safety management systems and practices.
Practical notes
- This position is based in Greenville, South Carolina, and may require occasional travel to various job sites within the region.
- The work environment may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, including noise, dust, and varying weather.
- Candidates must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and be comfortable working on construction sites.
