What you'll do
- Conduct detailed analysis of claims data to determine appropriate reserve levels for various lines of business, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to gather insights and improve the accuracy of reserve estimates.
- Develop and maintain actuarial models that support the calculation of reserves, utilizing advanced statistical techniques and software tools.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, summarizing findings and recommendations related to reserve adequacy.
- Monitor emerging trends in claims development and adjust reserve estimates accordingly to reflect changing circumstances.
- Participate in quarterly reserve reviews, providing expert input and analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Assist in the development of actuarial policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the reserving process.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and regulatory changes that may impact reserving practices and communicate these updates to relevant teams.
- Support the annual actuarial valuation process, ensuring that all necessary data is collected and analyzed in a timely manner.
- Mentor junior actuaries and analysts, providing guidance and support in their professional development and technical skills.

Requirements
- A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in actuarial reserving or a similar role within the insurance industry.
- Progress towards or completion of professional actuarial qualifications (e.g., FIA, FSA, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to present findings effectively.
- A solid understanding of insurance products and the regulatory environment affecting reserving practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
Nice to have
- Experience in a specific line of business such as property, casualty, or specialty insurance.
- Familiarity with predictive modeling techniques and their application in reserving.
- Previous experience in a consulting role or exposure to multiple insurance markets.
