About the role
As an intern in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) sector at Grab, you will become an integral part of the Corporate Real Estate and Security Team. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in upholding the health and safety standards within the workplace. This role emphasizes administrative compliance, risk management, and the coordination of wellness initiatives that align with the overarching goals of the OHS program.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Conduct regular inspections of fire safety equipment, first aid kits, and other essential safety gear to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support the revision and updating of Safe Work Procedures, emergency response plans, and comprehensive risk assessments.
- Organize and facilitate emergency drills, while also providing assistance during investigations of incidents or near-misses.
- Collaborate with project teams to incorporate safety protocols into new office developments, including renovations and spatial planning.
- Plan and execute bi-monthly wellness and safety initiatives, such as ergonomic workshops and health-focused seminars.
- Maintain and manage OHS data tracking systems, preparing monthly reports that detail compliance levels and incident statistics.
- Engage with various departments to ensure a cohesive approach to workplace safety and health initiatives.
- Participate in the development of training materials and presentations to educate employees on safety practices and protocols.
- Assist in the procurement of safety equipment and supplies, ensuring that all necessary resources are available for compliance and safety training.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the OHS program by providing feedback and suggestions based on your observations and experiences.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program focused on Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Facilities Management, or Public Health.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards, BizSAFE certification, fire safety regulations, and methodologies for risk assessment.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to document processes, take meeting minutes, and support procurement activities.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with various departments such as Facilities and People Operations.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and a willingness to engage in hands-on safety management tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Nice to have
- Previous internship experience in Occupational Health and Safety or related fields.
- Understanding of workplace ergonomics and health promotion strategies.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and software beyond Microsoft Excel.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting purposes.
- Knowledge of risk assessment techniques and emergency planning processes.
- Experience in project coordination and event management, particularly in a corporate setting.
