About the role
Gmining Ventures is seeking a skilled Draftsman to join our team in Georgetown, Georgetown, on a fixed-term basis for the Oko West project. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and drafting processes, contributing to the development of mining projects that align with our commitment to excellence and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and design, particularly in the mining or construction sectors, and will be adept at using various drafting software to produce accurate and detailed plans.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create detailed and precise drawings and plans for mining projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical drawings.
- Utilize advanced drafting software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to produce 2D and 3D models that reflect project specifications.
- Review and revise drawings based on feedback from project teams, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all documentation.
- Maintain organized records of all drafts and revisions, ensuring easy access for team members and compliance with project timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and documentation that support project proposals and regulatory submissions.
- Conduct site visits as necessary to gather information and insights that inform design decisions and enhance the accuracy of drawings.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in drafting and design to continuously improve skills and contribute to team knowledge.
- Participate in project meetings to provide input on design considerations and address any drafting-related issues that may arise.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior draftsmen, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Ensure all drafts are completed within established deadlines, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the project.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that all drafted materials meet the required quality standards before final submission.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting, preferably within the mining or construction industries.
- Proficiency in drafting software, particularly AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other relevant tools.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with local and international mining regulations and standards is a plus.
- A degree or diploma in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about design challenges.
Nice to have
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their application in mining projects.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in mining operations.
- Previous experience working in a multicultural team environment, particularly in remote locations.
- Certification from a recognized drafting or engineering organization would be advantageous.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other drafting software.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of project management software and tools for tracking project progress.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling techniques and visualization software is a plus.
Practical notes
- This position is based in Georgetown, Georgetown, and may require occasional travel to project sites.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the country and may require a work visa, which Gmining Ventures is willing to sponsor for qualified applicants.
