What you'll do
- Lead and supervise multiple construction projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate daily activities on-site, including managing labor, materials, and equipment to optimize productivity.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations to create a secure work environment for all team members and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules and monitor progress, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality and compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns or changes in project scope effectively.
- Prepare and submit reports on project status, including updates on timelines, budgets, and any issues that arise.
- Mentor and train junior staff and subcontractors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Facilitate communication between various project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and local authorities, to ensure alignment and resolve any conflicts.
- Implement best practices in construction management to enhance efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Participate in project meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on field observations and project performance.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management or a related field, with a focus on steel construction preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Nice to have
- Experience with Lean construction principles or other efficiency-enhancing methodologies.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other advanced construction technologies.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, PMP, or equivalent are a plus.
- Previous experience working in a supervisory role within the steel industry.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, can be advantageous for communication with diverse teams.
