Senior Risk Manager
Job description
About the role
Glomo is India's first licensed Payment Service Provider, known as a PSP, operating from GIFT IFSC, and a pioneer in cross-border payments. The company was founded on the belief that India's global economic ambitions depend on payment rails that are both fast and fully compliant. The Senior Risk Manager will own and mature Glomo's enterprise risk framework and will effectively lead the risk function as the business scales. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, the role spans enterprise-wide risk assessment, transaction monitoring, customer onboarding, and operational and third-party risk. The person in this seat translates regulatory expectations into practical, workable controls that protect the company while still letting the business grow. This is not a back-office, box-ticking compliance job. It is a hands-on, ownership-heavy position inside a growing team where risk decisions directly shape the product, the client experience, and the pace of expansion. If you enjoy building risk programs from a foundation rather than maintaining an existing one, and if you want your work tied to real cross-border flows moving through GIFT IFSC, this role gives you that platform. The company brings together a team with over one hundred years of combined industry experience, so you are surrounded by people who have done this work at scale before but who are choosing to build the next chapter from the ground up.
Key facts
- Employer: Glomo, India's first licensed PSP at GIFT IFSC.
- Sector: cross-border payments and payment infrastructure.
-
Location: GIFT-City
-
Employment type: full time.
- Reporting line: Head of Risk and Compliance.
- Mandate: own and mature the enterprise risk framework and lead the risk function as the company scales.
- Scope: enterprise risk assessment, transaction monitoring, onboarding, operational risk, and third-party risk.
- Ethos: compliance controls that enable growth rather than block it.
What you'll do
- Own the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) end to end, covering customer risk, product and service risk, geographic risk, delivery-channel risk, and transaction risk.
- Refresh the EWRA on a defined cadence and whenever trigger events occur, so the assessment stays current with the business and the regulatory environment.
- Own transaction monitoring end to end, from designing and calibrating rules and thresholds to tuning them as transaction patterns change.
- Oversee alert quality and disposition, making sure alerts are reviewed properly and that the outcome of each review is consistent and defensible.
- Govern the review, approval, and rejection process for alerts and cases, and keep clear records of every decision.
- Translate regulatory expectations into practical controls that are effective without adding unnecessary friction to legitimate client flows.
- Support customer onboarding by embedding risk requirements into the process and reviewing higher-risk cases.
- Manage operational risk across the business, identifying points of failure and making sure mitigations are in place.
- Own third-party risk, including due diligence on vendors and partners and ongoing monitoring of those relationships.
- Present risk findings and program updates to the Head of Risk and Compliance and to senior stakeholders, and recommend changes to policy and controls.
- Work alongside legal, compliance, and infrastructure teams so that risk thinking is built into products early rather than retrofitted after launch.
Requirements
- Significant experience in a risk function within financial services, banking, fintech, or payments.
- Deep understanding of enterprise-wide risk assessment methodology and how to apply it to a payments business.
- Hands-on experience designing and tuning transaction monitoring rules and thresholds.
- Working knowledge of anti-money-laundering and counter-financing-of-terrorism obligations for payment service providers.
- Experience managing operational risk and third-party risk in a regulated environment.
- Ability to read regulatory guidance and turn it into controls that a small team can actually run.
- Strong judgment for reviewing alerts, cases, and escalated decisions, with an emphasis on clear rationale.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, scaling company where processes are still being built.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain risk issues to non-specialists.
Nice to have
- Experience working within an IFSC, free zone, or similar special economic regulatory environment.
- Exposure to cross-border payment systems and the messaging and settlement rails used in international transfers.
- Familiarity with card scheme, SWIFT, or other payment network rules relevant to payment service providers.
- Experience building a risk team or leading a risk function through a period of growth.
Skills & tools
- Risk assessment and risk appetite frameworks.
- Transaction monitoring design, calibration, and tuning.
- Anti-money-laundering and sanctions screening concepts.
- Third-party and operational risk management.
- Policy writing and control documentation.
- Data analysis for alert tuning and management reporting.
- Stakeholder communication and regulatory-facing materials.
Practical notes
- The role is based in GIFT-City, Gujarat, and candidates should be prepared for an in-office or hybrid arrangement depending on company policy.
- The reporting line is to the Head of Risk and Compliance, and the role is expected to grow alongside the risk function.
- This is a hands-on position; early on you will personally review assessments, alerts, and vendor files rather than delegating them.
- Because Glomo is building its infrastructure from the ground up, expect your input to shape tools and processes rather than inheriting mature systems.
Project highlights
- The inaugural Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment for a newly licensed PSP, covering every risk dimension end to end.
- A transaction monitoring framework designed, calibrated, and documented from a blank page.
- The standing operational and third-party risk review process that will govern how Glomo works with vendors as it scales.
- The onboarding risk criteria that will let the business take on clients quickly while staying inside its risk appetite.
Why you should apply
This is a rare chance to define the risk function of India's first licensed PSP at GIFT IFSC from the start. You will not be slotting into a role that already exists; you will build the framework, choose the controls, and set the tone for how the company balances compliance with growth. The work sits at the intersection of payments, regulation, and cross-border commerce, and it directly supports India's ambitions on the global stage. You will be supported by colleagues with over one hundred years of combined industry experience, and you will have the satisfaction of seeing your risk decisions protect real money moving across borders every day. If you are a senior risk professional who would rather build than maintain, this is the platform you have been waiting for.
