About the Role
The role is for a Network Infrastructure Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the network infrastructure that connects personnel, systems, and facilities. It is described as a hands-on, high-ownership position involving the architecture, deployment, and management of network environments. These environments range from fiber-connected multi-building networks to secure, air-gapped setups that support engineering, manufacturing, and compute-intensive workloads. The position requires close collaboration with systems, security, and engineering teams to ensure networks are fast, reliable, and scalable. A key focus is designing and optimizing high-performance compute (HPC) clusters to achieve low-latency and high-throughput connectivity for simulation and engineering workloads. The role is situated in a technically demanding, high-growth environment where precision, reliability, and scalability are paramount.
What You'll Do
- Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise and laboratory networks that span multiple buildings and facilities.
- Architect and operate air-gapped and isolated networks, implementing strict segmentation, access control, and security monitoring.
- Collaborate with systems and engineering teams to design, optimize, and support high-performance compute (HPC) clusters and their network infrastructure.
- Configure and manage network components including switching, routing, wireless, and firewall systems from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, or Unifi.
- Implement and maintain fiber-based wide area network (WAN) connectivity between buildings and remote sites.
- Manage LAN/WAN infrastructure components, including VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and Quality of Service (QoS) configurations.
- Integrate on-premises and cloud networking environments to support hybrid deployments using Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Deploy and maintain network monitoring and alerting systems, including tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, Grafana, NetBox, and Datadog.
- Develop resilient network architectures that incorporate redundancy, observability, and security by design.
- Collaborate across IT, security, and engineering teams to support high-performance and secure operational requirements.
- Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures in alignment with ITSM and change management best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking issues across physical and virtual environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Network Engineer or in an equivalent technical role.
- Proven ability to design and operate multi-building or campus network environments.
- Strong knowledge of fiber WAN technologies, switching, routing, and firewall systems, including Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, or Unifi platforms.
- Experience building and maintaining air-gapped or segmented network environments with strict security protocols.
- Familiarity with high-performance compute (HPC) or other low-latency networking systems.
- Proficiency with network monitoring, diagnostics, and alerting tools.
- Deep understanding of core networking technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, and network security fundamentals.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills necessary for managing complex infrastructure.
- Ability to take full ownership of network initiatives, covering architecture, hands-on implementation, and ongoing operations.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in regulated technical environments such as aerospace, defense, GCC High, or FedRAMP.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), or network automation concepts.
- Scripting and automation skills using languages and tools such as Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.
- Exposure to ITSM processes, incident and change management, and configuration control procedures.
- Industry certifications such as CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Juniper JNCIP, or equivalent credentials.

- The engagement is full-time, with eligibility for full-time employment and benefits for qualified candidates.
- Compensation for this role has a base salary range of $110,000-$170,000 annually.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends may be required as part of operational needs.
