Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead and manage the IT department, providing direction and support to team members while fostering a collaborative environment.
- Develop and implement IT strategies that align with Galvion's business goals, ensuring that technology supports operational efficiency and innovation.
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud services, to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Manage IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget while meeting quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technology needs and provide solutions that enhance productivity and effectiveness.
- Establish and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Monitor system performance and security, implementing necessary upgrades and patches to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Provide technical support and guidance to staff, troubleshooting issues and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and ensuring that services meet organizational requirements.
- Prepare and manage the IT budget, tracking expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization and recommending adoption where beneficial.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, communicating IT performance metrics and project updates effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management or a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or defense industry context.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud computing.
- Proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of IT professionals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Familiarity with IT security best practices and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with budgeting and financial management in an IT context.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CISSP.
- Experience with ERP systems and their integration into business processes.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies and practices.
- Familiarity with data analytics and business intelligence tools.
- Previous experience in a defense or security-related industry.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in network management and security tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with IT service management software.
- Strong understanding of database management systems and data storage solutions.
- Knowledge of programming languages and software development practices is a plus.

- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and may need to obtain a security clearance depending on the projects involved.
