What you'll do
- Lead and manage a team of embedded software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, product managers, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of software with hardware components.
- Define and implement best practices in software development, including coding standards, version control, and testing methodologies.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide mentorship to team members, promoting professional growth and skill development.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that all software projects meet quality standards and are completed on schedule.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with software development projects, proactively addressing issues that may impact project success.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in embedded systems, integrating relevant advancements into the team's work.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall direction of the software engineering department.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python, with a strong understanding of embedded systems architecture.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and familiarity with hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and UART.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, JIRA, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Nice to have
- Experience in the defense or aerospace industry, with an understanding of military standards and protocols.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they relate to embedded systems.
- Familiarity with machine learning or artificial intelligence applications in embedded software.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
