About the role
You will own the server-side systems that power high touch trading workflows at Galaxy Digital in London. This role focuses on designing and maintaining robust JVM-based infrastructure used directly by internal traders and external counterparties. You will collaborate closely with trading and product teams to ensure reliable order management, trade execution, and real-time pricing capabilities. The position demands strong analytical thinking and a sense of ownership to investigate and resolve complex issues end to end. You will operate in a performance sensitive environment where accuracy and stability are critical. The role encourages independent decision-making and deep collaboration within a diverse team of builders. Your work will directly support institutional clients executing in OTC markets, block trades, and voice-assisted trading flows.

What you'll do
Define and evolve server-side systems that underpin high touch trading workflows across OTC markets and block trading desks.
Partner with trading, product, and operations stakeholders to translate business requirements into resilient JVM-based solutions.
Design, implement, and maintain order management, trade execution, and real-time pricing components with high standards of reliability.
Investigate complex production incidents, own issue resolution, and drive improvements to system robustness and observability.
Optimize concurrency, multithreaded processing, and JVM performance to meet the demands of latency-sensitive trading workflows.
Collaborate with distributed teams to deliver features that align with the company's mission of connecting institutions to digital assets.
Leverage your knowledge of low latency messaging patterns to enhance throughput and reliability in trading infrastructure.
Apply best practices in fault tolerance, high availability, and distributed computing to critical trading systems.
Integrate and configure infrastructure components using containerization and cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Contribute to a culture of excellence by mentoring peers, sharing knowledge, and upholding transparent feedback and rigorous standards.
Continuously explore emerging technologies and practices that can improve the performance and scalability of trading infrastructure.
Engage in code optimization and profiling to ensure efficient resource utilization and consistent low-latency behavior.
Support the development and maintenance of systems that provide accurate pricing and execution capabilities for voice-assisted trading.
Help ensure that all implemented solutions comply with internal governance, risk, and regulatory expectations.
Requirements
10+ years of relevant development experience building server-side systems.
Excellent core Java skills with a strong understanding of the JVM and its performance characteristics.
Exceptional knowledge of concurrency, multithreaded programming, and JVM performance tuning.
Demonstrated experience with high touch trading workflows including OTC markets, block trades, dealer intervention, and voice-assisted trading.
Solid understanding of Order Management Systems and their role in trading infrastructure.
Ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proven capacity to own issues and see them through to resolution in a production environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams.
Nice to have
Experience leading a team of engineers in a fast paced technology environment.
Development experience in performance sensitive environments such as electronic foreign exchange markets.
Hands on background with fault tolerant, high availability, and distributed computing architectures.
Familiarity with low latency messaging technologies such as Aeron or 29West.
Expertise in code optimization, profiling, and performance tuning of Java applications.
Practical experience with container orchestration platforms including Docker and Kubernetes.
Working knowledge of major public cloud services, especially Amazon Web Services.
Exposure to digital asset markets, blockchain technologies, or crypto trading infrastructure.
Practical notes
This role is based in our London front office trading technology team.
The position is full-time and involves on site presence as required by our London office operations.
Travel may be required within the UK and to other Galaxy offices on occasion.
Visa sponsorship may be available for eligible candidates depending on immigration requirements and role requirements.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom for the role offered.
