About the role
The Quantitative Developer joining the Crypto trading desk at Galaxy Digital will own the design, implementation, and optimization of market making and quantitative trading strategies directly impacting revenue and risk. This role requires close collaboration with traders, quants, and engineers to translate financial hypotheses into robust, high-performance software systems in production environments. The successful hire will champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to improve team performance and business outcomes while leveraging AI tools to enhance day-to-day productivity and decision quality. They will be responsible for maintaining and extending the firm's trading infrastructure with a focus on speed, reliability, and scalability in fast-moving digital asset markets. The position demands strong ownership of the full development lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the trading stack. By integrating diverse data sources and ensuring data integrity, the developer will enable accurate model inputs and stable live system behavior. What you'll do
Develop, implement, and maintain high-performance trading algorithms and models for Crypto markets.
Collaborate with traders and quantitative analysts to understand trading strategies and translate them into efficient code.
Optimize existing trading systems for speed, reliability, and scalability under production loads.
Integrate new data sources and ensure data integrity for accurate model input across heterogeneous feeds.
Monitor and troubleshoot live trading systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance during critical market events.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in quantitative finance, software development, and Crypto markets to inform architectural decisions.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools, including testing, deployment, and observability.
Embrace and champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to improve team performance and business outcomes across the trading workflow.
Leverage AI tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, data copilots) to improve productivity, decision-making, and output quality in your day-to-day work.
Participate in on-call rotations to respond to incidents, investigate root causes, and implement preventative measures for system resilience.
Work closely with risk and product teams to ensure that trading strategies remain within defined risk parameters and regulatory expectations.
Prototype and validate new trading ideas through experiments, data analysis, and rapid iteration in a controlled environment.
Requirements
Experience working in algorithmic trading environments in Java, with a proven track record of delivering reliable trading software.
Knowledge of tick data analytics and real-time market data processing pipelines, including low-latency ingestion and transformation.
Familiarity with cloud-based market access or hybrid deployments that combine on-premise and cloud resources for trading workloads.
Proven experience in developing and implementing quantitative models and trading algorithms that have been deployed in live or simulated trading settings.
Strong programming skills in Java, including mastery of concurrency, performance tuning, and memory management for high-throughput systems.
Experience with high-frequency or low-latency trading systems, including network-level considerations, message serialization, and timing analysis.
Experience working on an FX or Cryptocurrency trading desk, with an understanding of the unique characteristics of digital asset markets.
Experience in integrating and executing strategies on DeFi platforms such as SOL and ETH, including interaction with on-chain data and smart contracts.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and support cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to have
Experience in the DeFi, or crypto asset classes, and a demonstrable interest in decentralized trading ecosystems.
Experience with market making or market making as a service, including inventory management and quote optimization techniques.
Exposure to regulatory or compliance-driven environments, with an understanding of how controls map to trading operations.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows, including code generation, automated testing, and intelligent debugging assistants.
Experience building or contributing to open-source projects that are relevant to trading, data pipelines, or quantitative analysis.
